Final Thoughts!

Hi everyone,

I have just spent the last hour looking over some other blogs completed by students that are part of the EDC3100 course this semester to get an idea of how they dealt with the stress and pressure of this semester. I found Angie’s and Jacynta’s blogs very interesting and insightful and I think that if your interested you should definitely check them out if you have the time.

Cheers 🙂

Its a wrap!!!

Hi everyone,

Well like the title suggests I have finished all week 15 learning path and submitted Assignment 3. This semester has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, highs and lows not only in this course but throughout all of them. I have learned so much from this semester about myself and about just writing assignments to make the markers happy even if you feel this is not the way it should be done. I hope each and everyone one of you every success in the future and hope that you all have come out of this course with an improved ability to not only use ICT but integrate it successfully into your teaching.

Now on a lighter note here is a funny YouTube clip that I used when I was on prac and I just needed to share it with everyone. Tall, Short Texans

Cheers 🙂

Finishing Up

Hi everyone,

Wow, this week is proving to be a big one! I think I have finally finished part D of assignment 3 all that is left to do is proof read all components and submit! I am feeling nervous about every aspect of this semester and am crossing my fingers and toes that I come out of all courses with an acceptable mark. This semester has proved to be the hardest for me so far and moving interstate did not help me at all.

If you would like to check out a few other peoples experiences this semester I suggest heading over to Felicia’s blog and Emma’s Blog both girls offer a great explanation of their journey so far.

I also found this an interesting read when I was looking for information in regards to part D of assignment 3. Student capabilities and attitudes towards ICT  in the early years

cheers 🙂

WEEK 15- ASSIGNMENT 3 PART D

Hi everyone,

I have been working through some of the learning path again in the hopes that it will help me will my evaluation of part D of assignment 3. I am learning more and more every time I go over the information that I had previously thought I had a good handle on. This science experiment that I re-watched from introducing TPACK just opened my eyes to the types of activities I should have been doing on prac to integrate  ICT effectively. It is funny how you don’t realise what you did wrong until you do start to reflect upon what you actually did. During my PE I felt that my ICT integration was of a high standard but now having reflected on it I can see that I took the easy way out with a lot of my lessons and did the usual show a You Tube clip at the start of the lesson. I will report back after further reflection.

cheers

week 15 learning path

Hi everyone,

Today I have been going through the week 15 learning path and have found it really helpful in getting my head straight to complete part D of Assignment 3. The learning path includes some links to questions answered by last years students that I found really helpful. If you would like to check it out click here.

This weeks learning path has also proved very helpful in outlining exactly what needs to be done in order to receive a full marks in various stages throughout assignment 3 including the learning journal and lesson plans.

I am wanting to achieve the highest mark I can for this course and all the explanation has really helped me to see exactly what I need to do.

will keep you all updated on my progress throughout the week.

cheers

week 15

Hi everyone,

This week I will be concentrating on finishing up assignment 3 ready for submission. I have saved the template for assignment 3 part D and am planning to use it to guide my essay. If you haven’t already seen it I think it would be a good idea to check it out. You can follow this link to David’s email and download it from there.

I am finding it hard to choose which 5 lesson plans I should submit as part C of the assignment, I’m not sure if I should submit 5 sequential lessons or a mixture of subjects.

I am planning to complete this weeks learning path before I make any decisions, as I feel this will help make assign

prac week 2

Hi everyone,

I’m currently half way through my second week of prac and feeling good about what I have been able to achieve so far. I am lucky enough to have a pupil free day today to catch up on some planning and assignments. I have been teaching a variety of lessons including maths, English, art, health and PE. Teaching reception (prep) I have found is extremely tiring but just as rewarding at the same time.

I am slowly compiling the five lesson plans that I am going to include in assignment 3 and thinking about the evaluation I will need to write.

I thought I would share some of the resources I have used in the last few maths lessons. To view them click here

Prac- day 1

Hi all,
Today wash first day of prac, I had to start early because of a pupil free day in SA. It was a definite experience with there being a few students in the reception class (prep) that could already write full sentences without additional help from the teacher! The students were writing a card for mothers day and one student wrote ‘Thank you for building our new house.’ all correct spelling and with a full stop and capital letter. I was amazed considering all students in reception are only 5 yrs old in SA (very smart little people).
I had the chance to observe the class using the class set of laptops (24) there is enough for one per student. The teacher uses an iPad to wirelessly connect to the IWB to structure most lessons and the students are actively involved in reading eggs everyday. I had the chance to take art (mothers day present), a reading group and individual reading.
All in all I believe my first day was a complete success and I am looking forward to next week.
Next week I will be teaching all of the maths lessons and half of the literacy blocks everyday and will take art and PE as well.
I will be keeping everyone up to date with my prac experience.

Cheers 🙂

Week 11

Hi everyone,
Most of this week has been spent organising my prac and assignments so that I am allowing myself adequate time to complete them all and still be able to engage properly on my professional experience. I have been looking through a lot of posts made in the IWB forum as I am aware that my prac class has the use of an IWB and I am trying to prepare myself as best I can.

I am starting my prac this coming Friday as SA has a public holiday in the middle of my prac. I have been informed by my metro that I will need to take modelled reading and the class story at the end of the day. I think this will be a nice way to ease my into the class and get to know the students I will be teaching. I am looking forward to this interstate experience and hopefully it is not too different to QLD! My mentor has assured me that she will be able to help me with any interstate transitions that I will have to make.
